Daft Punk - Alive 2007

Daft Punk has done it again. After changing the way the world perceives house music they have put the best of their career together into one live set to sum up why they are who they are. Alive 2007 is the compilation and was released a few weeks back. This live set from Paris showcases the finest the famed duo of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter have to offer with the supplementary magic of a live gig. As an epic interpretive journey through "Homework", "Discovery" and "Human After All", this set has mind blowing potential taking the true fan through all that is to love in their bar setting sound.
This video is essentially a sample of highlights from the show and provides a teaser for some the greatest moments of the set. This clip is comprised of audience footage from a gig in Brooklyn dropping "Television Rules the Nation" via "Around the World" and then mashing it all into the sickest remix of "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" you have ever heard. Enjoy this and then get your hands on the album. Breathtaking.

Get Out

Doing some modeling work for MEC.

2007 is coming to a close, as is one of the most memorable fall seasons on record. With 13 hikes and 10 peaks bagged it has been epic, but it isn't over yet. This past weekend we did it again and simply drove to the end of Route 66, parked the Durango, jumped the ditch and went up the hill to the right.
It should be noted that although Sparling originally contemplated making the summit in business casual this hike was significant enough to warrant a slight change in gear......Especially after reading this sign.

A while later we found ourselves on a windswept ridge to a peak just south of Moose Mountain. Although none of us could reach an agreement on what mountain we were on it was a fairly significant peak, but for by now seasoned mountaineers more of a leisurely Sunday outing to stretch the legs than anything else. The clear winter day offered spectacular views of the rockies as well as the city in the distance. It truly was a glorious day and a great way to round off a busy week of exams. After climbing down to a nice lunch pit stop spot we ascended to the peak once again and then started the short blast back to the start point. Coming down the upper slopes was incredible as we ran and slid our way between evenly spaced pines on the snow covered steeps getting as close to skiing as one can come with shoes on. In a flurry of nearly rolled ankles, powder spray and close calls we reached the bottom and the end of another memorable day.
It's extreme, only way back after lunch.

What, Where?

It has been a while. I have been writing some exams, taking care of business and not to fear I have been to the mountains. With group projects, exams, papers etc. computer time has been work time. I'll get you back in the loop.
Two weekends ago four of us took the North Over from the opposite direction from about a month ago to see what this side of the ridge looked like. It ended up turning into a 6.5 hour adventure on a trail that is normally done in one day, one way. Out and back to Three Isle lake was fairly uneventful until after we passed the Forks back country campsite. From there the trail became gradually steeper eventually putting us in waist deep snow up an incredible slope into the high alpine. Foster decided to bring snow shoes and launched some small cliffs to amuse us, we fired off a bear banger, Brooks ate a gel, put on yellow pants and took us all to school on the way back down before he cracked and I took us to school. We saw some cougar tracks and hiked for several hours in the dark in driving snow back to Upper Kananaskis Lakes. It was a great day.
Last weekend we welcomed my sister to our crew as she had just arrived from Norway hours earlier. As time was an asset none of us had a surplus of we decided on a tame outing up Cox Hill in the Jumping Pound Range. This hike also served to welcome Brooks as the third most dedicated member of The Alpine Club with four trips under his belt. Although the trail offered nothing in the way of true challenge it was a beautiful day spent in the vast mountain playground we are so fortunate to have at our doorstep. Although the parking lots was empty at the trail head, several vehicles could be found along the road back the Hwy 1, all belonging to Christmas tree poaching Joes seeking their own thrills.
The next few weeks will be busy with 5 more exams and a rather large assignment to be completed. I am also attempting to work as much as possible to bank valuta for what is to come in a few short weeks. Stay tuned for more mtn adventure and other insights although it could be sparse in the coming weeks.
